To be honest, I have never been hunting before. My family (well, mainly the men in my family) is/are really into the hunting sport. It has always intrigued me to see the deer come back in the utility trailer after the "Big Hunt". Then, my brother's and my dad would hang it off the tree in the back yard to skin it. Well, it had never occurred to me that my brothers would be leaving the house; which would leave the hunting up to my dad...or either my sister or myself would have to help him with the next hunt.
Much to my surprise, my dad started talking to me about this year's hunt. That talk is usually left to the men to handle. But, seeing as all the men (except my father obviously) have left home, he talked to me about where WE were going to go hunting and when. I didn't think he meant, he and myself when he said "we". Soon enough, he asked me to go hunting with him this year. I about fell off my chair, either from excitement or disgust, which I still haven't been able to tell. I asked him what, exactly, the hunt would consist of. Here's the list:
1)Waking up early 2)hiking to our spot 3) sitting at our spot for who knows how long 4) shooting the dear (which I'll leave to my dad) 5) finding the dear and gutting out its insides (stink!!) 6) lugging the dear back down the mountain 7) and finally, showing off to all of our friends the amazing animal!
I said, "Sure," as long as I got to use something to cover my nose with while we were gutting the animal. Actually, I am pretty excited to do this!
Dad and I went and scoped out our spot for this year. Neither he nor I are sure that it is on BLM land, or Private Property, since there were absolutely no signs whatsoever ANYWHERE. But, heck, it's still going to be fun!!!
